I checked your avatar and it appears you live close to each other.
We don't get much rain here in the desert, so this is a dry lightning which is pretty easy to photograph.
1. Open beer or pour a glass of wine
2. Point camera towards storm and open shutter, take a sip
3. Release shutter when lightning strikes, take a drink.
4. Repeat...
