Hello, back again.
The trip went well and took a lot of shots.
Here are a few shots from the Great Wall, one of them isn't particularly about the Great Wall, but seeing as politics is in the air, I couldn't resist the opportunity.
All shot with the Pentax 18-55 & Ds....I made a mistake by leaving my Sigma 18-125 home.
Hope you enjoy.
Grant

Wow, you just convinced to visit the gorges again. I love the scenery there a lot.

Still managing to get great shots from the trip with kit lens. I know the regret of leaving lenses at home

A couple more of the Li River and then we'll move onto a night performance in Yangshou that was very spectacular.

River Spectacular in Yangshou.

Ds & Sigma 24mm f1.7. and mono pod. I have had to tone all these down in lightroom as they were all over exposed. Minimal pp and cropped to remove heads and P&S LCD screens.
The first shot is to give you an idea of the venue layout.
Not that this will interest any of you, but the girl in the 'moon' is said to be naked under her very sheer cloak.
Cheers.

Grant, I meant to ask earlier in the month but forgot... My In-laws, who were going to Tanzania and wanted my wife to go, who thus 'dragged' me there too , but resulted in my excuse to finally get a D-SLR and the lenses, now all want to go to China. I really did not think I wanted to go. But I'm feeling compelled to.

I'm wondering, what kind of a trip did you take; an organized large guide group or personalized one? If you were to do it over, is there anything you would change?

My wife gave me 4 tour groups to look at. In selecting, I'm wondering if there is anywhere you went that you think wasn't worth it or anything that's a "must see". Well, I know already the two things focused on here, the great wall and the river in Yangshou is a must see. Anything else you say I gotta see?

And to end this long barrage of questions (I'm sorry) do you think I'll need my [big, heavy] long fast 300mm lens + TCs?

Hoping you see this after all this time. Thanx very very much,
-steve
