Nice to finally meet you!
Lens: DA*300 Camera: K-5 Photo Location: Everett, WA ISO: 400 Shutter Speed: 1/180s Aperture: F9.5

I don't get around much due to some physical issues so I find myself relaxing in a chair and watching for the birds. After three weeks I finally gave up on the store bought nectar and made my own. Within three hours I had visitors. I am only 5 months into this photography adventure so I am really happy! Anyway, I hope you enjoy and constructive criticism is welcome.

WOW, great captures, all of them. If you step up your ss to about 1200, you should be able to freeze the wings if you want to experiment a bit. Bob

Bob, glad you like them and I appreciate the recommendations. I will certainly be playing with the SS, aperture and ISO as needed. I look forward to more practice.

I agree with Bob - Wow! Knowing how tiny hummingbirds are, and how fast they move, those are amazing images.

You know, it seems that using the flash also froze the wings. It has been a while since I have seen or photographed these beauties, but it seems that worked very well. Looking forward to more photos. Bob

Good capture! Try for freeze the wings. I have a lot pictures of hummingbirds. I use DA 50-200 lens. Now I use my FA 50mm 1.4 I stand to shoot the pictures of hummingbird only 1 feet because Humnmingbird trust me. Smile. I posted the pictures on pentaxforums. Smile

Bob, I am honored you stopped i twice! Yes, using the flash helped a lot. The day prior I tried without a flash but they came out too dark and my SS was too fast that it showed no motion at all. Trial and error!

Danny, Thanks for stopping in. I do want to freeze the wings but at the same time show a little motion. It will take me time. Also, the Hummers are not very used to me yet but as time goes on I will get closer. When the time comes I will have a few of my other lenses ready! Thanks for the recommendations and I will certainly take a look at you photos.

Crewl1, I'm glad you like the shots. BTW, 4:1 is the exact mixture I am now using.
