One of my favorite photographic stomping grounds is the San Diego Zoo. It isn't always easy to get nice animal images in a zoo. But when it happens it is rewarding for me. Plus, I like supporting the zoo, their work is very important in the survival of many animals. Here are a few of my favorites from my last visit.

Even though I got a better/clear shot of this cat, something about this one brings me back.

Thanks for looking, and please visit the gallery link. I was shooting the polar bears through thick glass that wasn't clean. Some of them I was able to adjust the white balance on and others it would toast the image. I'm not sure what is up with that. I know that they would look better in the gallery with consistent color, but I wasn't able to pull it off.

All very nice shots! I especially like "Kiss Me" and "Bear Hugs."
I'm envious....I had hoped to visit the San Diego Zoo in October, but we cancelled our trip because of the wildfires.

I was using my tamron 70-300 LI DI. With all the lenses I own (16), this tamron, the least expensive of all is the lens I reach for more often than not. Much of that has to do with the focal length it offers and the *macro* ability. I enjoy the heck out of this lens. Thank you for looking and commenting.

The whole city was a mess at that time with the worst air quality. I'm sorry you missed your trip, but probably best to save your lungs! I hope you get another opportunity to visit the San Diego Zoo. There is a saying that it is the best place on earth.

I understand the SD Zoo is the zoo of all zoos.

I particularly like the second flamingo shot and the big cat.

Oh, these are fun! The upside down flamingo really stands out. And, the natural framing around the eyes of the kitty cat is very cool!
