Sunset Canoe 3 shots different PP
Posted By: daacon, 09-06-2011, 05:10 AM

Another trip out last night to catch the sunset. There were two many low laying western clouds to make any exposures of merrit , but being how it was the lsat day of summer vacation for most , there were a lot of people out there.

I am still playing with the Topaz BW software - these are just presets , there are included tools to tweak to your hearts content, for now I am just experiementing with what they offer.

Here are three different takes on the same shot - do you have a preference ? (I know it's totatly subjective)

The original with some pp

This one (probably my favorite) is called Russet

Although I do like the standard Speia one as well

Daacon,
thanks for posting your "canoe" shots (although where i live, we would call them kayaks :-))

I actually like the classic BW. Reason: the setting sun seems to be so bright that it draws attention away from the kayakers, the BW doesn't do that.

Color shot is also very nice in the various sky striations of color. Wonderful picture!

Color shot does the most justice to a very fine shot! Print and hang! Perfect!

Nice capture!

My opinions for what they are worth...
I much prefer the color version, the russet is OK, the sepia just seems wrong, perhaps to "cold" for the scene, almost sickly.
Maybe a split tone with blues?

Really I'm in agreement Rupert.

Regards.
