Out practicing shooting RAW+. Also experimenting with Pentax PhotoLab. Comments are encouraged, I can only improve by them. By the way, the flowers ARE artificial!

Colour-wise, I think it could stand to be a bit brighter and have quite a bit more contrast. As it is, the foreground and background are at similar shades and blend together somewhat. I fiddled about with this image and managed to bring the "blossoms" out from the background.

Regarding the composition: you've adopted a fairly straight-on view that asks to bring the viewer in quite closely. Having cropped out most of whatever it is that the flowers are sitting in (wheelbarrow?), you've still neither cropped closely on the blossoms nor included much of the context.

As for detail and choice of focus I think you've got it right. 8)

I hope I added some value. I noticed your post in the "unanswered" pile and having had more than a few of those myself thought I'd speak up. I encourage you to make the most of the raw/TIF format, it unlocks all kinds of wizardry. I do a lot of black and white conversions, myself. 8^)

P.S. Welcome to PentaxForums!

Yes, I noticed JPEG images with my K10D are really "soft" to a point they seem out of focus. Raw will be my preferred method of shooting. As far as B&W, depending on the subject/composition, it is quite dramatic. I'm going on a mini-shoot tomorrow in a very old cemetery, lots of mausoleums, and masonary objects. I feel B&W will be the only format for this shoot. I May post a few images.
