A few photos from Burning Man 2011
Lens: DA 18-135 Camera: K-5 Photo Location: Burning Man 2011 ISO: 80

I got back from my 4th time at Burning Man....Seven days never feels long enough....really the whole year leads up to this one week....words fail to properly express just how amazing this place is.

I ended up with over 800 photos between my K-5 and K-x...but obviously there are some that stand above the rest. Here are a few of those pictures.

All images posted here were made with the K-5 and DA 18-135...An amazing weather sealed combo out here Black Rock City. So far I have only posted a few 2011 photos to Flickr.

Thanks for sharing! Did you get any flack for shooting indiscriminately while at Burning Man? I thought I read somewhere that only "officially" sanctioned photogs (e.g. the event organizers) were allowed to photograph or retain any copyrights of images at Burning Man.

@ einstrigger - It is totally fine to take pictures of anything just as long as you don't intend to sell any of the images...which would kinda go against what Burning Man was founded on (before it was an 'event') and of course it is nice to ask permission if you are gonna make an image of a stranger. There were quite a few cameras with a media tag on it....pretty sure you had to pre register or go to the Media Mecca and ask about it. The people in the photos are my good friends, and I was just documenting our stay in BRC.

daacon - thanks! these are some of my favorite images from the whole trip. I may even order some prints of them.

impressed with what you've done with that 18-135... those b+w's... the contrast is superb... the subjects fascinating... those pastel colors in the sunset make that a beautiful sunset capture... dave m

I am really digging the silver tones/tint (not sure the proper word) of #2 & #4... Really nice... How dusty/dirty was your gear after burning man?

@ EdwardConde - My camera got pretty dusty by the end of the week...it survived a few dust storms, and just regular carry around the desert on a Black Rapid RS-7. I did, however give it a few blasts of dust off every once in a while.
The front element of the lens was protected by a Hoya HMC UV Filter (bought used for a few $$) ever since I took it out of the box.

Even my K-x and Tammy 17-50 (that took these photos) held up really well..but it wasn't my K-x's first time at Burning Man. Also, I wasn't sure how well my 322RC2 ball head would hold up in the playa...but it was totally fine. Personally I think the camera looks kinda badass all dusty.

On one of the first days I lost that little plastic bit that comes out on the lens hood. so I just electrical taped it, and it was never a problem.

Thanks for the love, everyone...really happy you all like the photos.
