Nice action-stopping shots. #1 is very clean - could be an ad for Speedo :-)

Thanks snappchappy,

I’m the parent of the swim team in charge of the end of year slide show so I have access to a lot of the pool area. However I was told at this meet that no one is allowed to take picture from behind the blocks anymore. I can understand this rule and don’t have a problem with it even though there can be some good opportunities in that area. So, if that’s all I have to give up to not be in you situation I will do it happily. I also will let any parent scroll through the camera and see the pictures I have taken so they can have peace of mind about what I am taking.

Thanks
Rob

All three are good, but the first one is fantastic! I actually like the way that the water is frozen and the swimmer is slightly out of focus. If it was all in focus, it wouldn't have as much atmosphere.

I too take photos for the local high school swim/dive team and use the Tamron 70-200/2.8. Unfortunately, I've never had the luxury of outdoor meets with good light, so I'm always compromising on exposure to get a good shot.

Timing and position are everything here. Great job!

Thanks everyone,
Here are #2 and #3 touched up a bit. In #2 I think you will notice the difference and in #3 the kids aren't so orange.
