Rare Orange Body Hoverfly
Lens: Vivitar 105mm 2.5 Macro Camera: K5 Photo Location: Maryland ISO: 200 Shutter Speed: 1/180s Aperture: F11

All my times in the field, I have only had 2 sightings of this type of hoverfly - I am dying to find another one I can spend some time with. I am a big fan of the color orange, so this guy has really gotten me excited to find more like him...

super capture... i've seen/shot hoverflies in the past... but not this subtype.... btw... was a tripod used? dave m

Dave, no - this shot was not tripod'ed. I do have my tripod with me most of the time but with most of the bugs I have been shooting as of late they are constantly moving so handheld seems to work best for me.
