Early Autumn in East Tennessee
Lens: Mostly DA 35 ltd, several others... Camera: K20D Photo Location: East Tennessee
Posted By: mole, 09-17-2011, 07:08 PM

Summer's waning here in East Tennessee, a perfect time to hike the high places.

Also, just got a fine DA 35 macro here at the forums marketplace, so it's a perfect time to try out the new lens...

Already some autumnal tints, including blueberry and red maple leaves:

Still some late season blooms (Hog Peanut and Great Lobelia):

And a few of the butterflies are mating, despite the cooler, shorter days (these are Carolina Satyrs):

Hope your new season is a great one, and that you enjoyed these glimpses of our East Tennessee mountains! Thanks for any comments & critique!

Enjoy your work. Especially the blooms- well done.
Good color without going over the top.

Nice shots. I've traveled through E. Tennessee a few times - very pretty country out there!

Beautiful shots, one and all. I especially like the vistas and the maple leaf. And the great lobelia -- I always think of shooting these "face on" instead of in profile as you have done here -- now I'll have a new idea to try.

Wildman - Thanks for your kind words - glad you enjoyed the blooms!

Normhead - and thank you for taking time to look & comment!

PaulH - Thanks so much! Where in East Tennessee did you travel? Hope you plan to return someday soon...

Baro-nite - Glad you enjoyed these! Vistas are from Roan Mountain - a fine place for many & varied vistas. Glad you liked the different view of Lobelia - was trying out some varied perspectives, some worked, some didn't...

RobG - Thanks so much! Just some fog drops on an ordinary web, but the light was just right, and this lens captures it well.

Dave M - Indeed a special locale - I am blessed to get to live and work in the Great Tennessee Outdoors!

CharlieZap - So glad you enjoyed the little stroll!

A wonderfully done set of photos. Nothing beats Autumn in Tennessee . . . . . especially East Tennessee.

We had some business in Knoxville and visited there many times - also in Charlotte, NC, then we'd make the drive over the Smoky Mtns into Knoxville. Hopefully we can get back there sometime just to visit and look around (and take photos!)

Thanks Jer - I agree with you wholeheartedly!

Paul - sure do hope you get the opportunity to spend some time in our mountains! That's sure a scenic drive across the Smokies, isn't it?
