This one is actually a cowgirl:

Some of these horses can really jump:

Really nice images! That third one is GREAT! (kind of nostalgic for cowboy hats though. They should make those helmets with brims so they look like them) :-)

Oh yeah, we have bulls as well... Cranky, high flying bulls.

Ray, great shots of these nasty boys in action. I have always heard they hang lower down under. TFS, Bob
BTW, these are some of the best rodeo photos I have seen.

Gee, thanks, Bob. That was only my second rodeo and I know I still have lots to learn. After that nice compliment I will try even harder. Thanks again.

Good job.

Rodeos are hard to shoot as most of the rider's extremities are getting whipped up to near the speed of sound....

I've been to a couple but they are fairly disgusting when they cinch up the rope on some steer who then sprays green stuff all over ...

We don't get a lot of this sort of thing in UK, I suppose if we did then some animal rights group or net-twitchers would raise the issue with their local MP and have it banned.

However, just because we don't have it over here doesn't mean I can't appreciate your images. The raw power, speed and exhilaration just leaps out and smacks you in the face!

Thanks, Don. We are usually sitting right on the fence with our cameras poking through the fence and if you don't keep a close watch on the action you do risk getting smacked in the face!
