Allison by the water

A friend of ours daughter caught blowing bubbles and playing by the irrigation ditch. The light was fading as the sun had set so there are some motion blurs. Abstract framing. C&C appreciated.

The bubbles in the water and her silouette make a great abstract. This is very artistic, Clarence.

This is a beautiful shot, Clarence. It's got such a good feeling to it.

My only reservation is with the amount of attention the framing commands compared to the main subject. I think your choice of a diagonal frame is very good. Perhaps smaller lines? or a smaller area of frame in relation to the girl?

Again, a wonderful shot!

Clarence, that's a great photo! I must say though that I don't like the abstract frame, and that I think the jpeg is over-compressed - for me there's a fair bit of distortion around the girl's bubble-wand, which I imagine is a jpeg artifact. I'd love to see this as a big print, rather than on my little computer screen - that would do it justice!

Very nice shot Clarence, I like it a lot. But I too think the frame is a bit too much.
Cheers.

Thank you all for your kind comments an inputs.

Chris I believe the distortion you see at the bubble wand was from the low light shutter speed. This will have significant jpg compression as it is, not only mostly black, but also shrunken for display.

I can go both ways on the frame and believe me, I really appreciate your inputs on this subject.
Playing off the diagonal of the irrigation ditch reflection, then diagonal and visual diagonal again but keeping the frame very simple, but emphasising the main part of the photo dynamicas, was my thinking.
Expreimental treatments, trying to push the envelope for myself and try different styles. Play, play, play. Life is good.

Clarence, I love the shot. It is such a happy moment you have captured.

Like a couple of the others, I was distracted by the framing. I'm not sure what its called but it might look good with a vertical frame surrounded by a faded area of the photo - does that make any sense?

Thank you.
Think I know from your description.
Might post a photo using this technique on a different subject and see what you think.
