I spend as much time (not enough though) as I can in the Ypres Salient in Belgium. This shot, of a group of British WW1 graves, was taken at Perth (China Wall) Cemetery. I wanted the end result to look like some of the photos of the cemeteries I've seen than had been taken in the late 20's and early 30's; not sure if I got the look but whatever look I did achieve I'm happy with it.
Of the 5 graves here only 2 are to men who've been identified.
Thank you all very much. The Great War has been a passion for me for about 30 years (for the wife, about 10). Like many other families mine 'did their bit'. I lost 2 great uncles (brothers) whilst my paternal grandfather was riddled with sharpnel; 2 gt. grandfathers discharged due to ill-health and injuries and a host of others suffered mentally from what they went through.
When I go to the Ypres Salient (where 1 great uncle is buried) I always try to make my pictures do justice to those who served and fell.
