And finally, I can never manage a good moose shot. This was the best I could get for this year -- I'll try again next year! We're only there for a week and they aren't always easy to find.

I was once interested in the Ranger Station/Lookouts available to rent in the San Juan region but have yet to have the experience. Apparently there are a variety of fire lookouts in the Division of Forestry that have been remodeled and you can have extended stays in them. Sleep 30 feet above the tree line!

The first image is a fine one.

I hadn't heard about the fire lookouts - will definitely have to check that out. The first image is on our way to Uncompahgre Peak, one of several 14ers near Lake City. Outstanding views. It's my second time climbing it to the top.

Yep those BW trees are wonderful. Helped by the angle of the shot. As a mountain enthusiast living in a flat country I really appreciate this peek into a beautiful wilderness.

Another vote for the B&W trees, but I enjoyed seeing all of these shots which crisp, clean and satisfying.
