Closeup Portrait of my other half
Lens: Tamron 28-75mm/2.8 XF Di Camera: K20D Photo Location: Canberra, Australia
Posted By: adr1an, 09-28-2011, 11:12 AM

Was just mucking around with my beautiful other half taking some pictures at the parents request before she heads overseas for a for a year for work.

At the end of our 'session' she insisted on being a dork and I had to capture it as I was using a remote trigger .. the second one came out ok after I told her to back it up a little. The first one I still kind of like even though it ended up focus locked on her hair - I like the rim light from the gelled flash and .. not sure.. but I still like it anyway

Hopefully this works - these are actually marked 'friends/family' on flickr for various reasons - so let me know if they don't appear (trying direct linking which should still work...)

Square on to the face cropping off one half of the face is a fun portrait to create, though it's important to have the right light.
Thanks for sharing these Adrian. She's delightful.

Thanks guys for the comments.

Dave: Would cropping it a little tighter improve it for you ? I really suck at composition still.... so happy for the feedback.

Ash: Yes, it is kinda fun.. and I know the light in this one is way off - I just grabbed the umbrella and turned it around since we'd gone from shooting 5m's away from the camera to 0.45m's What would be 'good' lighting if I was deliberately going for the look... some sort of Rembrandt type effect with a decent rim light ?

I think so Adrian get rid of the right eye would be better IMHO. The pure white just looks kinda creepy to me
