Landscape Fish Rocks

On the way to Trona, these are only visible coming from Ridgecrest. No idea of by whom or when thes were painted. I guess this could be called graffiti in some circles but I call it ROCK ART

Well those are some very funny and well done pictographs -- took imagination and a bit of skill. Even if I saw those in a designated wilderness area I'd have to laugh, and these are by the side of the road. I only hope this doesn't "inspire" some budding "graffiti artist" to put his own scrawls on these rocks.

Cliff, these rocks were painted this way when I first visited the Trona/Searles Dry Lake area in 1970 and it seems that they receive a touchup every couple of years or so. Here is a link that you might find interesting.

Thanks Bob, a very informative piece of information. Now I have the story behind the Fish Rocks. Probably very few people in the area have the story behind the rocks... Thanks again.......Clilff
