Nice old shack!

Yeah this snow is out of control... so much so early... it's gonna be a rough winter!

I got some nice snowshoes at MEC last year, only used them 2-3 times last winter but I have a feeling I'll have a chance to use them a lot more this winter!

Better you than me Peter. A good shot for sure. Nice color and great composure. I like it very much. As for the snow shoes I hope I will never need them here. It's been about 30nyears since we had a really good snow fall even with snows building on other snows.

I miss the snow already

Nice picture Peter. I'd loan you my big shoes if we lived closer.

We'll hopefully get dumped on next week, after I catch up on a little more work.
And with a little luck I'll own an OLD skidoo in 2 weeks or so for those places too far to hike.

Snow is nice, so long as you don't have to shovel it - but then we're lucky around here, for the amount we get.

Anyway, Peter, personally I would have preferred something from a little further out. Did you frame it like this or tightly crop it purposely.

Simple yet effective.

Almost abstract to a degree.

Thanks guys for the comments. I was traveling light as the snow was deep, I had my back to a row of trees and old rose bushes. Should have carried the 12-24 but I'll revisit this area again this winter I'm sure. Lots of old farms and abandoned buildings in the area.

I wish we got more snow here, like we used to get when I was a kid.

I like this shot! Taken and the perfect time of day with a beautiful hint of color in the sky.

Good one!

There is a certain "feel" about this shot that I really can relate to.

My snowshoes are ready to go. One more decent snowfall and I'm off exploring.

Somewhere out there is a postcard or greeting card company that would love to use that photo. It's beautiful.

Nice picture, got an "old good times" feel to it.

Do you use polaroid filter when shooting in the snow?

I knew there was something else and you pointed it out. Yes the sky colour makes the old structure stand-out even more.

Thanks again everyone. In this case Karl i didn't use a polarizer as the light was falling and near the end of the day. But i do use one when the light is more intense to get better skys and cut glare. The snow can be so bright it overpowers everything else.

excellent

Excellent image Peter - simple yet effective!

A very nice combination of subject, foreground and background, despite you wanting the 12-24! Great conditions to allow some of the snow details to be seen too.

Regards,
Marc

Great capture Peter - I will trade the cold here (-23 last night) for the snow (not so much here). I am looking forward to some winter scenes here - just gotta catch a break from the weather man.
