Pond tracks
Posted By: xfraser, 12-08-2007, 03:04 PM

We have a small pond in our back yard, and some sort of critter wandered across it the over night and left some tracks. I thought it was interesting:

I like it Carol, and I do have to agree with you.
It is interesting.

Is the ice thick enough to play on yet?

Interesting...

I love following and identifying tracks in the snow. There are some handy little field guides that help to learn just what made the tracks.

My guess is that you wouldn't want to venture out on the pond yet - those type of tracks usually indicate some slush on the surface, and the colors are not too healthy-looking either.

That surely is a picture so interesting to look at and ponder for a while.

Really nice shot Carol, I love the mystery of it. I can't wait for the snow to build up here so I can go out walking in the snowy woods around here.

NaCl(all we've got now are brown and grey and grey and brown...and no mystery at all)H2O

That is a cool picture and maybe worth going to the waters edge tomorrow and check it out more. As tom said that ice is thin so I wonder what that was.

roentarre, that was really bad!! "ponder"

The pond is definitely not thick enough for people to walk on. I actually looked around for a hole to see if whatever was walking across it fell in! I'll have to find one of those field guides, it would be nice to know what is wandering round back there.

Thanks for all the comments everybody.

Neat image. I like it. Looks like whatever it was took the long way home.
