Yes,B&W looks very good and conveys "Hard Times extremely well". What does it look like in a shade of desert brown? Cliff

Thanks, that shot was done with Topaz B&W. My initial processing of this shot was done with a brown tone using Lightroom (a preset I found called "brownsoft") followed by a run through Topaz Adjust. The result is below. I am still undecided whether to add some vignetting on this. This is without.

Thanks, I have come to have a preference or an appreciation for the browns and grays associated with living in the desert. I like the brownish tones in #2. Cliff

Great "depression era" (which I suppose applies to now ) photo. I prefer the color tone of the first one, but both versions are terrific.

As a California resident, I was thinking that the depressing Depression era feel of this photo is particularly apt as a metaphor for what has become of this once-great state. Hence, the title.
