Very cool. How much of a crop is this (how close to him were you)? Must have been very exciting. Beautiful creatures.

Nicely done Heinrich - that is one big buck with a full undamged rack I suspect he has won a few battles this season.

Great images Heinrich. The only images of Elk I've managed so far have been close but obscured by trees or a clear shot of a dot in the distance.

WOW.... this is a beautiful picture of an amazing animal. I don't think I have ever seen a better photo of an Elk. How fortunate you were to see him and how very skilled you are with the camera.

Thank you Tom, if you don't have your tripod handy and still want a reasonable sharp picture there is no other choice.

Take care,

Thank you Dennis, holding the camera still is not my problem.....checking camera settings before pressing the thingy.....well that's another story.

Take care,

Hi Tess and thanks for the praise. I have photographed elk before but never found one as large as this one.

Take care,

Yay, I thought we were the only ones who called them Wapiti!

Great shots. The antlers look battle-weary.
