My old man has his fingerprints on the A6, having been an engineer at Grumman for 36 years (1965-2001). They're none too pretty but plenty tough.

Tuff is correct, I wrenched on the A6 for about 8 years. When the Battle Group Commander had a challenging mission the A6 was the first thing he ask for because it could deliver the goods on time and on target, rain or shine, day or night. Us wrench turners referred to Grumman as "Grumman Ironworks". Cliff

The EA is the true work horse. The EF 18 is only fit for pulling tanker duty, barely. And while we are at it, bring back the Tomcat..

Cliff, I can't remember how many times that I was driving from Ridgecrest to Inyokern that a jet out of China Lake would fly so low it would shake the vehicle I was driving. Scared the heck out of me each time, you could never see it coming and at what seemed like at 100 foot off of the ground at 400mph or so, it was earth shaking. Oh, I will take the A-10 Warthog and a case of beer anytime. TFS, Bob

I'm a "Gooney Bird" man myself. It won't shake any windows but was the workhorse of the Air Force for 40 years. Talk about your tough old birds, she was it.
