Big Buck !!
Lens: DA*300/4 Camera: K5 Photo Location: St Modeste, Québec ISO: 1000 Shutter Speed: 1/1000s Aperture: F5

Out in the semi-wild: this buck is kept, along a few female counterparts, in a large and fenced domain where they roam freely.
I went along with the owner of the property and we just sat there waiting for the herd to come in ... for at least an hour and a half.
The big buck came first, inspecting and sniffing around for "intruders". I was cautioned NOT to try to get too close because it is "rut" time; this specimen is surprisingly large and I admit having been a bit scared even if we were hiding behind some bush which was itself separated with a fence.
Nonetheless, these are not-so-wild shots, yet lucky to be at the right place at the right time.

The buck was actually approaching the females which were a few hundreds yards away.
I guess he wasn't too impressed seeing me there !

Thanks daacon.

Certainly is one proud animal indeed.
I just can't get over the fact that they also get hunted ... to each his own passion. I'd rather see them standing up alive.

Cheers.
