The duel
Lens: Sigma 135-400mm Camera: K20D Photo Location: Churchill, Manitoba ISO: 200 Shutter Speed: 1/180s Aperture: F8

This past weekend I made my second voyage to Churchill to shoot some Polar Bears and I wasn't disappointed. Although I didn't see as many as last time I was lucky enough to have these 2 big males start sparing right in front of us for about 20 minutes. Needless to say I took a lot of photos (600+) in those 20 minutes.

Great shot

Churchill's the place to see polar bears in the wild. I lived in Manitoba for many years but never made the pilgimage to Churchill. I see the loss was mine.

Thanks for sharing

Fantastic shot!

You are very fortunate to be able to see action like this in the wild.

Thanks for sharing.

Wonderful shot. Right place, right time.
They don't appear to be too aggressive in that photo. Did they really go at it?

I was hoping they would spar and luckily they did for at least 20 minutes with a few breaks in between rounds. I have quite a few shots like this and some that are much more dramatic. Once I have the time to sit down and do a bit of PP I will certainly post them.

They really do go at it quite hard. There was fur flying a few times but the funny thing is that they didn't make a sound the whole time they were going at it.
