Danger - Moose Crossing
Lens: Sigma 70-300 macro (70mm) Camera: K20D Photo Location: Algonquin Park, Ontario,Canada ISO: 400 Aperture: F8

Somewhere between 20 and 30 years ago I saw a moose crossing in front of a "Danger Moose " sign and thought it would make a great picture. But it was too dark. So, I've been watching for quite a long time hoping for another chance. Finally today with T's help I got it.

By the way, what are those &*??$%? people doing right next to this moose ?
Perhaps someone should tell them it is presently "rut" season ... ?

That is so cool - a great capture. I have to admit that I wouldn't want to be too close to a moose - especially not in the fall.

They were both females, so not a lot to worry about. It's the males usually that will take you on.... A shot of the girls.

At one point Tess said, "they're going to hump." and of course I said "They're both females." And Tess says , that doesn't matter." So guess which one of us was right?

I know male moose can be very dangerous, anyone know anything about "butch" moose?

The first one is the same moose as on of the ones shown lower down the page. I just enhanced her size by walking down into the ditch beside the road and shooting from a low angle taking the picture looking from approximately ground level. A trick used by guys on the internet all the time.

Great capture Norm - they are massive creatures indeed and you angle just adds to that.

Whew!! One big animal! I've seen a couple up in Maine a few years back but they were at least a 100yds or more away...your shot gives a great perspective of they're size! WOW! Tom
