"Take It Easy"
Posted By: Bob Harris, 11-06-2011, 07:57 PM

You have heard the song the Eagles made, now you can say you saw the corner and the flatbed Ford in Winslow Arizona

Well, I'm a standing on a corner
in Winslow, Arizona
and such a fine sight to see
It's a girl, my Lord, in a flatbed
Ford slowin' down to take a look at me
Come on, baby, don't say maybe
I gotta know if your sweet love is
gonna save me
We may lose and we may win though
we will never be here again
so open up, I'm climbin' in,
so take it easy

I stood at that corner before the song was written. Didn't get a ride though. Had to walk all the way through town carrying a heavy rucksack and a mountain dulcimer.

I notice in Bob's shots they allow parking in front of the prop truck. Seems odd to let someone block that corner. Maybe I missed a no-parking sign?

Nice shot, Bob - I guess these folks have gotta get where they can.

Jer
Jer, when they bypassed the town with the I-40 freeway, this really hurt the economy. They are trying to resurrect "old town" to stir up a little interest, but Winslow is actually doing better than other Highway 66 towns.

Great shot Bob, and one of my favorite songs. Except when I try and sing along in the car, it's too high for me and I always strain my voice trying. Thanks for taking that.
Norm, there are Eagles and then there are Crows in this world

Rico, you were half way there to a top ten song, you had the lyrics with the rucksack and dulcimer, you just needed the music.

Very entertaining photos Bob. How much is real and how much is staged. I refer to the couple hugging in the window... and the bald eagle.... are those artifacts or did you get incredibly lucky? I guess it is all there for appeal. I love this series. Thanks so much for posting!
Tess, that is a painting or mural, really looks realistic doesn't it, thanks for taking a look Bob

Oh, I wrote a song all right, in mixolydian mode. Not exactly top-40 material. Too bad.

Anyway, nice shots. And no, there's NO PARKING in front of the prop truck. That's what the red curb means. Thou shalt NOT obstruct the town's main tourist attraction!
