In flight..

It is a new learning experience to shoot BIF handheld with this lens as I always shoot with lens mounted on a tripod. Judging by the results, perhaps that is how it is meant to be used.

Beautiful shots. I have DA*300 and spending lots of time in practicing shots of BIF but not this much successful yet. For 300mm focal distance to shoot that sharp and detailed image the bird should be passing through a distance of 10-15 meters. When I've seen some of your other images I thought that you have lots of wild birds living in your neighborhood. Many people do not have such a chance. I wish I could meet such birds frequently in my hometown.

My experience with BIF (birds in flight) has always turned out to be more like blur in flight. I’ve nothing to equal these in my portfolio. Well done.

I live on the Coast of California where birds are plenty, water birds, shore birds and birds of prey are common sights. We have several regional parks that have their resident birds and some are seasonal so there is always something to shoot. If not I could go to the deserts or mountains thus we our choices. That is probably why I have such a collection of lens.
Thank you.

I am sure it will come. Just keep practicing. The light weight of the F*300 makes it possible shoot handheld as I did with this image.

Thank you Tom.

Haris--these are fabulous! As a fellow birder I love to see the beauty and character of these species so wonderfully captured.

You must be part bird Harish. You capture so much more than just a bird in flight. These are astonishing.

Were you in a blind or something? I would have to pay my kestrels in mice to let me get this close and even then there would be no guarantees they would keep their end of the bargain
