Eternal Flame

Just recently visited this little known site near my home, despite living here my entire life (59 yrs). The "Eternal Flame" is located in an undeveloped part of Chestnut Ridge Park. The waterwall is about 25' cascading over shale rock. The flame is natural and fed by gas escaping through a crack in the rocks. Its height will vary depending on the gas pressure that particular day. If it's out from heavy rain or snow you can simply re-light it with a match.
