Playing with (Norman's) new toy
Lens: Pentax AF Adapter 1.7X Tamron 90 2.8 macro Camera: Pentax K-x Photo Location: South Algonquin, Ontario
Posted By: tessfully, 11-10-2011, 12:43 PM

The last two days have been dull, grey, cold, damp and very windy. Not much for photo opts but I still managed to have some fun with Norman's newly acquired Adapter... also known as the Two Times Converter. I am afraid I have beat him to the test runs (bad weather just doesn't get in my way!!). Here are a few shots that really show me the power of the adapter.

I have tried and failed to get this shot of the minuscule sedum flower cluster many times with just the Tamron. The adapter helped me get a bit closer to a successful image.

It was very windy and dull, so this could be better, however not too shabby.

I thought this was very textured.... not sure I could have got it this good without the converter.

Depth of Field could be better and it was breezy, but I love the bokeh

Which one which one....I like them both!

Just one more. This was shot without the adapter, just using the Tamron. I love the fly!!

The weather people say snow tomorrow! Maybe I will wake up with a whole new world to photograph!!

thanks for looking

Once Norm sees these photos, he isn't going to share his toys with you. Very nice captures Tess, were these handheld? I used a 2X tc on my 50mm f/2.8 macro with good results, my dandelion photo had this combo, and the combo hunted a little bit before locking in on the image. Great job, keep playing. Bob

Thank you all for your great comments on these photos. It was a tremendous amount of fun!

Bob, I did use a tripod. The other thing to note about the adapter is that I have to first manual focus on the subject, and then set the lens back to auto focus and the camera then does the rest. Your dandelion gone to seed image is still one of my favourites, btw. I did not realize you used an adapter.

Thank you again everyone for looking and commenting.

Looks like a great combination - especially nice detail and texture in the Robin's nest and burdock seeds...
