Its winter in my backyard!
Posted By: AKiss20, 12-15-2007, 11:05 PM

Decided to take a stroll through the forest with the K10D, the recent snow/ice/hail fall provided a nice wintry feel to go along with the low temperatures.

First shot is with the FA50, last three are the Tamron 70-300.

And as always, C&C, is highly encouraged and welcomed.

Cheers!

Four winners and the middle two are exceptional!

Thanks so much for the kind words you always seem to leave! Ice/water in general is so fun to shoot because it has so much detail in such a tiny area. Its recognizable but very abstract at the same time. It's awesome stuff.

Thanks Andras.

For me, the leaves shot has that colour about it that makes it really stick-out over the rest.

The ice shots are quite interesting - would you mind sharing the shooting info/setup please.

I agree with Chris. All very nice and the ice ones rock.

Sure no problem. Btw does anyone know if I can at all preserve EXIF data when using Raw Therapee? I use PS7 so I can't use ACR and need Raw Therapee as a middle man. It is quite good, but it strips my images of EXIF when converting to Tiff which is quite annoying. Anyone know of anything to work around this?

Anyway, for the ice shots it was pretty simple. I found a little puddle that had frozen in the woods, slapped on the Tamron 70-300, stuck it into macro mode. The images were at something like F5.6, 1/180th and 400 ISO. All handheld, no tripod.

Thanks for the comments!!
