That first shot is good but the 3rd one is really great. It looks like your efforts are really paying off. Nice series.

Thanks for the coments. Believe it or not I was a little lazy today and shot this one from my car. Just resized and posted. No PP. When I get it right that A*300 is really sharp. I have lots more deer images but this was my first post and I wasn't sure if I did it right.

I have the older version of this lens (sort of - different optics) The K mount 300mm f4 Very sharp and nice colour/contrast. I put a 1.7AF TC on it and have Auto Foucus with the combo. Does a very nice job and gives about 510mm.

Hey some of my most commented shots have been with the lens leaning against a partly rolled down window. Maybe we should give the cars a camo paint job and go for a drive down a country road! Great shots non the less.

Hi Kent,
Nice series. I really like the last shot. I'm jealous because I've not been able to find any bucks to photograph so far, only does.

Scott,
It helps to sort of have them staked out. LOL Actually I have been photographing them in the same area for about 4 years now. They are in a protected area and of course they seem to know it. They are quite used to cars so I use my car as a blind most of the time. I have a shot of a monster buck that I will post if the guys don't flame me because it was 2 years ago while I was still on the dark side(ca**n). Thanks for the kind comments as it was my first photo post

Nice series of sharp shots Kent. I especially like 1 and 3 showing the deer in its environment. Did you use manual focus or were you able to use AF?

Channeler,
Thank you for the comments. All 3 shots were done in MF as I was using the old smc A* 300 F4.0 lens. Very sharp even with a few scratches on the front element (but the price was right).

We've had a few deer back again in the early morning ... rare for Sydney.
If i get a chance I'll get out and take some photos ... if i spot them again ... they aren't around all of the time though.
