Just A Sliver
Lens: Sigma 70-300mm Camera: K-x Photo Location: Home

Trying out a new tripod...bought it used, it's a tank but very sturdy. The ultimate test was to take a couple of shots of the moon and so far this is the best shot I've taken. It's quite sturdy compared to the composite one I have although I like that one too since it's lighweight and easy to carry, the "tank" is much more ridgid! Too bad it was a cloudy night when the moon was full, I really wanted to get shots of a full moon. Oh well, there's always next month!
Hope you enjoy! Tom

Tom, that is a very crisp and clear shot and I find it more interesting than a full moon photo. Bob

Hey, thanks Bob! There is a lot of PP in PS just to get the features on the moonscape to come clearer. The 70-300mm sigma I use isn't too good but good enough to get this far. Maybe Santa will bring the 55-300mm Pentax lens I've been "eyeing".
Thanks for looking, appreciate the comment!

Nice shot, Tom - I dig the "sliver effect."

I agree with Bob. I prefer the quarter moon chot to the full moon. Nicely done Tom. JIM

This is a terrific moon shot, way beyond the cliched full moon shot which makes it super special!! The detail and light on the moon look amazing with just the right amount of negative space. Very inspiring... I need to try my first moon shot one of these nights.

Thanks Tess! Taking pics of the moon is fun but also frustrating....as for me I'll take 50 or so shots and only just a few are in focus. The new tripod really helps get the focus but if the wind blows the shot is "shot".
Thanks for looking and your kind comment! Tom
