Punk Gig - low low light
Lens: 10-17mm Camera: K7 Photo Location: Sydney ISO: 3200 Shutter Speed: 1/25s Aperture: F3.5
Posted By: schmik, 12-07-2011, 04:20 PM

Went to a punk gig the other night. The band wanted some shots for the inside of CD cover. This certainly tested out the low light capabilities of the k7 + lenses. In general the kit performed much better than expected in the tough lighting conditions.

I am prefer not use flash (even though i do own one) as it spoils the feel the shots.

Fisheye shot is :
1/25
f3.5
iso 3200
Can't believe how well iso 3200 cleaned up.

40mm shot is:
1/60
f2.8
iso 1600
All the noise came from photomatix.

Love the fisheye shot! The other one is pretty cool but I find the person reaching in a little distracting.

pretty clean, looks like decent light for a punk gig i've shot way worse lighting : punk gigs rarely have good light because they are rarely in the big clubs. package tours being the exception to the rule
fisheye shot is great, i shoot my 14 at gigs a lot

The lighting was pretty bad. It was just OK in those shots.

I wish a had the 14. I own the 15 but a f4 i think it would be a pretty tough ask.
Apparently the K7 is bad in low light.... seems ok for me.

I will compare it to my K100d.

BTW, i like the person poking the finger. Demonstrates the intimacy of the venue.

I know! I am in my bid 30s. When i was a youth they were piercings everywhere, illegal smells wafting in the air, god knows what was happening behind the speakers and ladies got your attention by showing some flesh. Now venues are no smoking... public transport is too poor to get drunk... drugs aren't cool... the ladies are covered up emo types. What happened to anarchy?

Q: Why did the chicken cross the road?
A: She was stapled to the punk rocker.

Ah ya, them was the days...
