Your 2007 Best Shot.
Posted By: Mallee Boy, 12-20-2007, 05:49 PM

Apologies if this has been started....but I can't find it if it has .

We have managed to run up some long posts on argumentative topics that at the end of the day mean jack s***t.

So to be different I challenge you all to set a new record on Pentax Forums "Post Your Photos" section with your best two (2) shots of 2007.

The only criteria is, naturally, they must have been shot in 2007 and with Pentax....of course. No judging, comment if you like but please post. I will do so when I get back to my home computer tonite.

Merry Christmas people.

Wow this is a good idea so I will get the ball rolling. And double WOW to pick just two.... now that is a challenge...

My first I guess is also one of the more recent - Downtown Edmonton at night.

K10D, f4, ISO 400, 2.5s, DA 12-24 - 23 November 2007

This next one was one of my first snaps with the fisrt DSLR I ever owned the K100D. It did not take me long to enjoy and upgrade to the K10D 2 months. It is also taken with the only prime I have SMC 50 f1.7. While technically it is good (least I think so) it is more the look , specifically the innocence. (Did I mention he is a teenager haha ) Really shows how good SR is (and the lens I think)

K100D, f2.5, ISO 800, 1/40s, SMC 50 f1.7, Hand Held 15-May-2007

I have sooo many others I could spend the rest of 2007 going over what ones to choose ! Good Luck to the rest of ya !

Since I got the pentax in Sept I have to be careful in my personal choices:
1. Abandoned stone cottage

2. Window at North Carolina botanical garden

I've posted "best of 2007" in 2 other threads... (maybe different forum). Anyway, here are 2 different ones I like.

The man told me the name of every coin and bill.

I'll have to think about it, I just have so many different pic's that I like

I have a request though. Can everyone please reduce their photo size in this thread to say 600 pixels on the biggest side, to respect people with slow connections.

Thanks

I got my K10D near the end of January of this year. Nearly 11 months and 13,000+ shots later, I'm still having a blast!

As for my best shot.... I'd have to say it's this funny little macro of the table on my backyard deck. It made it's way into the Pentax Photo Gallery, was a photo of the day at Photography Voice and a photo of the day at Steve's Digicams.

And, my second choice.... the shot that got me thinking I wasn't too shabby at working with doggies... This one is also in the Pentax Photo Gallery and was a photo of the day at Photography Voice.

I consider these two of my better efforts for 2007. Onward and upwards for 2008 perhaps?

Great topic but hard to choose. I have many favourites and all for different reasons. The 2 below didn't win any awards, rarely get a comment from anyone, friends and family pass them by and they never got accepted to any gallery. But for me they both say something in different ways. Maybe I can't step back from my own shots and be objective enough, but I like these. Partly since other than cropping, there was no PP done.

Might be too late for this this year but maybe if we let this thread run for awhile and then the OP could suggest a vote on the best 19 or 25 shots (18 month or 24 month). We submit the chosen shots to one person to have this printed as a calendar and offered to a charity as a fund raiser. It could be done by summer and ready for sale for next fall. Maybe Breast cancer or Feed the Children, maybe something similar. I know that it would limit that to one country for the charity. But once printed, it's up to the charity to do the rest. Any thoughts?

Here's my 2 favorite from this past year. They were both taken during a weekend trip to a state park in southeastern Oklahoma.

Since I just picked up the K10D back in May, all of my shots qualify, but here are two I especially like:

I would be willing to participate in this; however the logistics of getting release information for the prints, copyrights, printing, distribution, collection of fees and then the final donation does get involved.

While most all charities are a noble idea, another thought is to help our Administrator (Adam) out here. We keep the same idea Peter had (OP vote on the best 12 or 18 or 24 photos), we then get releases from the photographers and processed, full size jpegs are sent to Adam.

Adam set ups up a special section that contains the full sized jpegs (compressed or otherwise) where access is granted to members (or anyone for that matter) for a contribution of $x.

Then if it is a calendar you want there are several online services that provide this. Just another thought that is somewhat simplier in overall logistics and does help a cause we all believe in
