This is a rework of a sunrise shot I captured last week, just messing around with it really & thought the B&W version sort of worked ?

sort of worked??? man, u nailed it! i think it looks awesome!! dont be afraid to convert sunset/beach shots to black and white.. most people whinge at the sight of a black and white sunsets .. blah blah,,, 'you should show the colours in the clouds blah blah'.. but i personally think,, the simplicity of the black and white, compliments to the simplicity of mother nature.. sunsets at beaches are about as close to god (what i beleive) ,as you can get before you pass over to the other side,.. and shots like this are amazing in my oppinion. thats why i surf everyday,,, the ocean is what links everyone up,around the world...

I think this is a great conversion. You have transformed a sunrise into a gorgeous B&W giving it new life ! Very archaic look i like it !

I can only echo what Dave and Dis Vis have already said... This is a wonderful B&W sunrise. Nice shot and conversion... I like it.

Having seen the original in color, I can't go back on it. Although the B&W is great, its kinda like that first impression thing.

Superb composition and conversion. The repetition of the B&W motiff makes looking at this pic like eating a coconut pie- super rich, demanding bite after bite, until not even a crumb remains.

"Sort of worked" displays a most astounding capacity for understatement.

I hope you don't mind that I took the liberty of setting it as my desktop wallpaper.

It almost feels cinematic just looking at it, great capture and the toning really works for this image.

I think the B&W sets a different mood of some of the coldness of a winter shore scene. In addition, since the clouds and foregraound are interesting this shot is great. I like the color alot as well.
