Walkway to Heaven
Posted By: xs400, 12-21-2007, 07:23 PM

I was able to capture this today during my lunch break. Shot in infrared using K100D, 18-55mm kit lens, Hoya R72 IR filter.

I like it, dramatic and stark, and a nice balance of dark with light elements.

Thanks very much, DV, that means a lot to me.

This was a lucky shot for me. The old man in the picture just happend to be walking by just as I set up my camera. He was actually the only person I saw while I was there.

Cheers,
Frank

Very nice shot !! I need to get out and try my IR filter sometime, been so bleak weather wise lately, haven't had much of a chance.

no worrys mate....
i love photographers that can turn a somewhat mundane everyday sort of subject/scene into a very interesting shot.. this photo is no exception to this example.. the old man is a perfect example of how a simple addition to an otherwise average shot, can make the image work in a way that lasts a lifetime..
well done and merry xmas :P

Good God man - you're created a 'Fine Art Photograph'! This is very good, in my humble opinion. I'd be very pleased with myself had I taken the shot.

It has many great qualities; the shadow lines of the railing is very stark and adds character to an otherwise smooth and uninteresting sidewalk; the dark and menacing clouds contrast perfectly with the sunny foreground; the lamp posts could be distracting but you managed to have them perfectly balanced and now definitely add to the picture; and finally, the old man trudging up the hill puts life to the whole scene. The only change I'd make is to clone out the wires on the left side.

Great job!
