First time shooting NHL hockey match
Lens: DA70, DA50-135 Camera: K-r Photo Location: Bell Center, Montreal

OK guys, this is my first time shooting hockey and it was an NHL match, it was super fast pace. WB was hell to set, I used DA70 and DA50-135, when I had my DA50-135 on, a security guard came and warned me that no zoom is allowed so I had to put the DA70 back on.

I mainly shot at 1/320, 1/400 and 1/500 in TAV and M mode. ISO was set between 800 and 1600. The K-r does handle high ISO very well combined with noise reduction from LR3.

Let me know what do you think.

Thanks, mate. Glad you enjoyed the series.

As far for the results, the visitors New Jersey Devils (in white) won 5-3. The receiving team as Montreal - Canadiens (in red)

Excellent captures! Can't use a zoom, eh? I wonder what they would say for a 500mm prime!

I think he really meant "no BIG lens"

He asked me to bring my "zoom" to the check-in counter since it was prohibited and I was like "hey come on, I will put it back in my pocket and use this tiny lens (DA70) instead, he was like "ok, small lens, no zoom!"

I just don't fancy seeing images of Martin Brodeur unless he appears 10 feet tall.

Some of these are interesting and have good perspective.

I'll be going to our area's minor league game this week and will probably be packing heat as well.
I realize security standards can be quite different even from agent to agent. The size of, for instance, a K-7 with 18-250 really gives false impressions to many a security agent. You could probably take them anywhere.

While I agree the 18-250 is quite small, I'm afraid it's not fast enough at f6.3 at the long end for a hockey game, especially with K-7. You'll probably be OK with K-5 at ~ISO5000 though
