Swallows....and stuff
Posted By: Andrew Faires, 12-22-2006, 08:55 AM

This was a 'two for the price of one' shot. The main subject was the barn swallow. The tree swallow (which is slightly out of focus) was just an added bonus

You can click on the photo if you want to see a slightly larger version.

This was shot with the 400mm on a DS2

...just to change things up a bit, here's something from my mother-in-law's garden:

DS2, either 77 or 43mm lens on extension tubes

Lastly, my son...err...dog in the christmas spirit :

K10D, FA* 24mm and AF360FGZ bounced.

Good capture on the swallows. Those little buggers are fast and hard to get.

Really like the flowering macro. Delightful color.

The last one should be entered into the e-mail that has been going around called "Why dogs hate people". His expression says a lot.

Hi Andrew, very mesmerising photographs in deed.

Swallows in flight and there are two in the photo. What a great capture. And I do not find the image soft at all. A tad soft on the right swallow but it adds a bit of action to the image. The colour of the swallow on the left is marked great - I found the image very appealing

2nd pic has the bokeh i would die for. So soft and creamy. The image is definitely a good tool for my anger management - calm me down when I have a bad day

Merry Christmas Andrew!

Nice swallows!

The swallow shot is right on the money. Excellent focus and timing.

Your, uh, son doesn't seem too excited about Christmas, though...

Do animals call him Santa Claws???

Have a great Christmas, Andrew, even though it will be a green one for us.

I'm so jealous that you can get your dog to wear the antlers, Andrew, even if he doesn't seem so excited about it. Ours will just shake them off.

Thanks for commenting, Tom, Beth and David.

I had hopes of a green christmas up until I heard the forcast today, Tom....slim and unrealistic hopes, but it's a toss up each year.

I'm sure Jake's enthusiasm will pick up when he gets his christmas gift. Until then, the tree's blocking his view of the street and we're putting strange things on his head and taking pictures

Beth, I won't tell you how many times I had to put those antlers on his head. I think his demeanor in this shot was his 'silent' protest

I hope you all have a great christmas/happy new year!
