Great shot. I also have never seen one of these! I have seen bald cardinals, but never one that had a red head and different color body! Interesting.

It's a South American bird so you wouldn't see one in Virginia outside a zoo.

It is an introduced species in Hawaii. They have a pair at the zoo here in Syracuse.

I had to google around to find the type. They were introduced to Hawaii in the 1930's from South America.
