Posted By: Buddha Jones, 12-27-2007, 11:50 AM

Hello all! I am going to make this a sticky post in hopes that I can get all of you who have submitted pictures to the Pentax Photo Gallery (PPG) and have had them accepted please post a couple of them here and please link back to your gallery so we can see your work. We have so many incredible photogs on this site I am curious to see what Pentax considers your best work.

Thanks!

Thanks all for your votes
Congrats for that, but I seriously don't get the shot. What's going on out there and what makes it special?

The Retention pond is frozen over for most of it. The Mid gray in the center is the pond. you can see a little water on the center bottom.

It's more compositional than anything, with nice gray tones ranges.
Sometimes I don't get my own stuff... I just see an image, and take it. I took 10 minutes to think of a title. I liked the angles and such, and the tonal quality.

I love the first image, but out of curiosity why did YOU personally submit the last two. I want to know what your mindset is regarding those two and PPG

Over the past couple of months I have been taking shots in a local park of old and new tree growth. Was happy to see this one get in. [#125 in PPG. ] JIM

This one was a total surprise. I submitted it on a lark based on the number of views and comments it received on my Flickr account. Who would have thought that something shot wide open with a Jupiter-9 would make it into the PPG. So much for the "must be sharp" argument

I like it too...just never felt that it had much impact. To be honest it was the second test shot I made fooling around in the backyard when I first bought the lens two years ago. I guess you can't argue with nice flowers and killer bokeh!

No offense meant, but im quite surprised that one got in Steve.... Nice bokeh but composition/subject wise nothing special (just an ordinary random flower shot) IMHO. I guess the people at PPG disagree, and hey it got in so Congratulations!

Anyways Im happy the above made it... Thats one of only two decent shots I got after a full day of shooting (very frustrating)

Edit: the flickr version doesnt have the dust spots removed (to lazy to re-upload it) but the PPG image is clear of them

Edit 2: My PPG gallery

Congrats on the recent entry Steve, I have been tempted many times by the Jupiter's bokeh to puchase that lens and there ya go and did it again.

yeatzee, I just voted on that one. Nice shot!

That was the last image I voted on (and for) in my marathon vote session yesterday. Great image - when I view it I'm not sure which way is up and it's intriguing. It would definitely "stop me in a gallery".
Well thank you very much!!
It just got published in the next upcoming issue of Photo News Magazine as well...I'm kind a proud of that one!

No offense taken. I tend to agree. It is pleasant, but nothing special. As mentioned above I submitted it on a whim solely based on positive feedback on Flickr. Life is weird. In my opinion, they have rejected much better work from me and from other people! In any case, I graciously accept the nod from PPG! If the judges and my peers like the way the photo makes them feel, who am I to argue?
