Posted By: Buddha Jones, 12-27-2007, 11:50 AM

Hello all! I am going to make this a sticky post in hopes that I can get all of you who have submitted pictures to the Pentax Photo Gallery (PPG) and have had them accepted please post a couple of them here and please link back to your gallery so we can see your work. We have so many incredible photogs on this site I am curious to see what Pentax considers your best work.

Thanks!

I finally got around to create a PPG account and started uploading some pics here and there.
Very few photos for now, but hopefully in time it will grow .

My PPG
I'm still working on the profile

boriscleto, Its strange for me to think of a Kookaburra as a 'zoo animal'. Around here we see and hear them on an almost daily basis,

Great portrait of him though. Love the details in the feathers.

In CNY they're about as exotic as you can get. They're a hardy bird too, their enclosure is outdoors...the day I was there the temperature was around 1.7C...

Yep they are tough and hardy, the temps around here range from below zero C to well over 40C.

Their distinctive song makes them probably as well known as any bird in the world. We often have 15 or 20 of them sitting in a eucalyptus trying to out do each other with their 'laugh'. We can sometimes coax them into hand feeding with a strip of steak (they are carnivores , as you can tell from that beak) Also known as the Giant Kingfisher, they hunt snakes, lizards, frogs, etc. It is a common sight in Australia to see them perched high on tree branches or electrical or telephone wire, scanning the ground below them for the movement of 'prey'.

They are also film stars, of sorts. In almost every Hollywood jungle movie, you can hear them (think Tarzan). The bird calls are exotic (as you say) to people not familiar with them, but they were never EVER in the African jungles...lol
