Pentax Photo Gallery (PPG) entries
Posted By: Buddha Jones, 12-27-2007, 11:50 AM

Hello all! I am going to make this a sticky post in hopes that I can get all of you who have submitted pictures to the Pentax Photo Gallery (PPG) and have had them accepted please post a couple of them here and please link back to your gallery so we can see your work. We have so many incredible photogs on this site I am curious to see what Pentax considers your best work.

Thanks!

Thanks Mark!

The car image is, hmmm, not a composite, but sort of is...
Okay, It was a static photo of my car on the road (not moving).

In post, I had to select all around the car, zoom blur the road, trees etc. Then select the wheels/tires and radial blur those slightly.
I was using a different program so at first I had to cut out the car and copy it as a new layer so the blur I added wouldn't effect the car itself once I combined the two car layers back together.
Very well done! And there I thought you had some kind of trailer behind the car and the camera set up on that at speed!

The website has been completely redesigned. To log in again I had to request a new password.
Pentaxrumors post about 100th anniversary competition prompted me to go and see the new page for the first time in years and it's not half bad compared to the old one.

Also my accepted gallery from years ago was complete trash and got deleted instantly

It's only been back a few days and I already saw a cimplaint on Facebook about the lack of creativity on display. Too many flowers, bugs, and birds...

To be honest there are plenty of photos that make me wonder how did they get accepted.

They're accepted by users voting. It's a popularity contest, not a skills contest.

I thought that the voting was anonymous? Unless photos yet to be accepted are advertised somewhere I can't really see how (for example) a blurry and horridly photoshopped shot of a baby in harsh sunlight could be popular if the voters don't know who has taken it.

That is, of course, my rather harsh but honest opinion and there are plenty of amazing photos in the gallery too.

What truly annoys me in the revamp of the site is the archaic 900px image size limit.

Yup, it's anonymous. I did not suggest it was not. But, because of the voting system some "cutesy" photos get upvoted. Hence, my comment of a popularity contest, rather than a more artistic evaluation.

Only took a couple of days. Maybe it's just older uploads that are lost in the ether...
