I've missed a lot of posts - what I've seen has been very nice indeed!
I submitted 2 images just over a week ago. Some cropping, but both images are just over 2500 pixels on the long side - taken from approx. 15-18 ft or 4.5 -5.5m away:
Physical Characteristics:
For those not familiar with the Ruby Throat hummingbirds, the females rarely have any ruby feathers on the throat, but may have a light or whitish throat patch. Females are also characterized by the dark round tail with white tips.
They are one of the smallest hummingbirds at
7-9cm in length, weighing only 3g! That's approx. 3-3.5" in length, weight of 0.1 ounces. I have held a Ruby Throat hummingbird on 3 separate occasions (all rescues) and you cannot even tell it's in your hand unless the hummingbird moves - it's amazing.

Marc
