First off, congratulations on getting into the gallery.
Now that the wait is over, you'll know what to expect the next time you submit some pics. Second, I can totally sympathize with what you're saying about your owl shot. (It's a great shot, btw.) The first time I ever submitted some photos for publication, I pulled out what I thought were my best slides and put them into some plastic sheets. The only problem was that I was one slide short of having both sheets filled. I didn't want to leave a blank spot, so I reached into the pile of pics that I had rejected and put one in the empty slot. I had initially eliminated it because I had used multiple graduated ND filters and it seemed like too obvious of a "trick". Sure enough, THAT was the pic that got used most by the magazine where I'd submitted my pics.
