Posted By: Buddha Jones, 12-27-2007, 11:50 AM

Hello all! I am going to make this a sticky post in hopes that I can get all of you who have submitted pictures to the Pentax Photo Gallery (PPG) and have had them accepted please post a couple of them here and please link back to your gallery so we can see your work. We have so many incredible photogs on this site I am curious to see what Pentax considers your best work.

Thanks!

Ozsavage, Welcome to the forum, great way to join us with a shot like that! I'm guessing you were off camera with a flash that had a coloured gel? Is that a single or multi exposure? Very good stuff in your PPG gallery as well!

Where was it taken? Mars?

Here are my photos:
PENTAX Photo Gallery
Allmost all my photos were accepted, at least ones that have been 600 pix of height. "Plitvice", that just won January contest, were rejected, because of height of 598 pixels.
So, I gave up, don't go there anymore.

Thanks for the welcome Peter & your kind words about my humble gallery

As you guessed, strobes & gels provided the foreground lighting for this single 20 minute exposure.

Nah. It's an area known as The Pinnacles in Western Australia.

Which is almost as remote as Mars.

That's some fantastic photos you have there.

I've come to understand the rejection due to size is simply a technical requirement/restriction. Don't let that get you down. If you would re-cropped another file from the original or rezie it to add the two pixels it would hve entered the system. It's ok to upload larger (to a degree only I beleive) but under 600px is an immediate rejection. Eh, I realized after that happened to me just gotta deal with it.

Here's the first shot I had accepted to the Photo Gallery

I submitted others that I thought were better, I guess I am not a very good judge.

I was under the impression that this thread was a celebration of PPG, so why go out of your way to dis it? I think you need to get a little thicker hide, not everyone is going to think your work is that of a genius. I have had 13 rejections and some of them are my most favorite ones - did I feel bad? Yup sure did - did I give up - Nope - I just used them for other purposes.

Also - just what is your criteria for a "good" photo? You should be able to articulate something? For example - here is a set of criteria that I try --- note the word try --- to use when looking at others work. I also try to use it when looking at my work - but I can not critique my own stuff all that well.
12 Elements of a Merit Image - Professional Photographers of America, Inc.

Don't take this so personal, I looked at your gallery here and while they are not bad - just what makes them unique. I looked and thought - Oh, another set of head shots.

Edit: Your tag line "Don't be so humble, your not that great." - maybe you should tell this to the guy who is looking back at you in the mirror.

Wow it has really been a while since my post.

I am sorry that I put down the gallery and not sure why I said it.
I'm trying to get in at least one picture out of like 10-15.

Well I am sorry for what I said and I'm sure that when I
get in it will be a very good day.

About that quote, People say things like that it usually
has something to do with them and in this case IT DID...

I think I have become a lot better since then so I hope at least
one gets in. If you want to see them you can see most of the ones
I submitted on my blog.

Edit: by the way is it normal that my pictures on the
gallery which I am waiting to be voted on are
really big sometimes I have to scroll through them?

how I did it. Just go to the contact us page and ask them, I think that
is how I did it.

Don't worry you don't have to be a pro to try it and
even get pictures in.

Use the contact form on the site and state you would like to participate. You probably won't hear back right away but you should within a few weeks, with a link that will allow you to create a profile and participate.
