Pale Moon at Sunset
Lens: DA 55-300 @300 Camera: K-5 Photo Location: My Back Yard
Posted By: Sailor, 01-08-2012, 04:46 PM

Last night I grabbed a few hand-held shots of a rather pale moon near sunset as it peeked through branches of the various trees I have to mow around. Because of the ambient light, they lack the stark clarity of a half-moon at night, but I think they might be worth keeping. Both shots are heavily cropped.

These are terrific and Sailor, we are on the same page as I did exactly the same thing two nights ago. There is something about the tree branches I really like on these moon shots, especially the 2nd one. My sky was much darker than yours. Great job! Don't you love it when you can see the craters!!

I think the second shot is the better as it seems like the branches are reaching out for the moon. Is the Moon branching out?????????

Thanks tess - I appreciate your thoughts and nice words. And yeah, I love the surface detail when you get catch the moon just right.

Thanks for looking, EM. Maybe the moon is just "up a tree."

I find the second image my favorite. The branches do add a dreamy effect to it.
