Guess what happened at Foxwoods Casino
Lens: 18-250 Pentax Camera: K5 Photo Location: Foxwoods Resort Casino-Conn. ISO: 1600

I thought that the gambling gods would smile favorably on me since I brought my wife-her mother and aunt to Foxwoods resort and casino for an overnight stay.No such luck. I didn't lose that much so I consider that a plus.I figured that if I was up and about taking pictures it would curtail my time in the casinos.I played with the K5's different modes again and for the first time I tried the HDR effect with auto align that worked out well considering it was hand held for the 3 shots that it uses.Maybe I'll make a few bucks on the Patriots-Denver game to make up for yesterday and today..---charliezap

Charlie, my heart skipped a beat when I read the title, I thought "No he didn't" and it turns out that you didn't. One of the local Palm Springs casinos had a drawing for a Land Rover the other night and No I didn't either. I will give the HDR a try now that I know we share the same luck.
btw, that turned out very nice.

I knew that the title would be an attention getter Bob.As for the HDR with the K5 I'm going to play around with it and see what it can do.It takes 3 shots at different level settings and it works better if you have a steady hand but then again a tripod for us old folks wouldn't hurt either.--charliezap

Nice shots there Charlie......I'm no winner...I don't do gambling, but Mrs Rupert would bet the farm if I let her! I like casinos, the food and the penny slots just to watch them spin!
I haven't tried the HDR on my K5, but intend to give it a go soon. I need to put the x10 back in the box and get back to my K5.......
Regards!

Charlie, you're a winner anyway - you got a K5

Great use of the HDR feature!

Nice job, Capn. I dig that shot of the 5er.

I remember attending a business meeting in the 90s at Foxwoods and driving upon the place late at night - a big party in middle of nowhere (or as close to nowhere you can be in Connecticut).

You are becoming the guru of in-camera K-5 effects.

Thanks Rupert.Speaking of the penny machines. Most of them give you the option of playing one pay line up to 20 or so paylines and anywhere from one cent to 25 cents per line.If you do the math and play max credits and lines the penny machines can be very expensive but people love them.Give me the old 3 quarters max bet in the 25 cent slots any day and at that I only do one quarter at a time.Usually I'll put $20 in a quarter machine which is good for 80 plays. After 80 "pulls" I take what I've won and repeat the process at another machine.A typical machine no matter what it costs for a single play I find will give you back 50 out of your initial 80 credits. It does take longer to play but then again you don't lose as much.I liked the old days when you actually put the coins into the slot. Now it's a paper voucher that has your winnings on it when you cash out.The money flows a lot faster for the casino's benefit when actual coins don't have to be handled.--charliezap

Great series... I love the colour and your techniques are spot on. Thanks so much for sharing this glitzy place with us. Too bad about the car. Maybe next time.

The K5 does have a lot of bells and whistles and being a gadget freak it's pleasing to me to know its capabilities that can be used if a computer is not handy at any given moment.--capn zap
