This was shot with my sunglasses held in front of the lens, deliberately underexposed a bit, and not postprocessed for color.

I was trying to record a little deeper-meanings thing that dawned on me while bicycling through a city park. The light pole seemed an imposition -- out of place at the time of day, at least -- and needed some mocking. Or something.

I like the jaged edge on the top of the pole, plus the whole light / dark effect worked out good as well.

You never stop amazing me. I really like the effect. (Sunglasses for a filter? I like it and it works well.) Your creativity and thought process is fantastic, not to mention your pictures.

I love the idea of sunglasses for a filter. I'm not sure I'm coordinated enough!

The picture has a very somber mood to me, love the effect

Hey cool - maybe my polarized sunglasses would work as a filter after all. I'm frequently tempted to give it a try. Hm, given the number of scratches on them, I suppose not. Very nice effect you got there, very moody.
