Playing around the feeder. Retirement is great!
Lens: Pentax 55-300mm Camera: K5 Photo Location: Saugus Ma. ISO: 1600

I was just having some fun shooting from my hiding spot 8ft from the feeder with the Pentax 55-300mm. I managed to bag my first cardinal of the year and the nuthatch on the wing coming in for a landing.--charliezap

Great shots. The second one looks like a downy woodpecker, we have a few of those here but they are hard to capture. And I've been trying to get a good shot of a cardinal for a while now, but they are very skittish.

Charlie that cardinal is sure beautiful, great color and it looks like that feeder is paying dividends.

Thanks Dennis.Cardinals are real skittish but the downys are sociable and I can stand right near the feeder and they don't mind me being there at all.--charliezap

Sometimes I have 4 bright red cardinals at the same time around the feeders. It seems that I have to fill the feeders up every other day.--charliezap

Thanks Lori--I have several types of woodpeckers in my area and the downy is the one that I can get really close to outside. The others are more suspicious of me.--charliezap
