Who's out there?
Lens: DA* 55 Camera: K-5 Photo Location: Lillestrøm, Norway ISO: 800 Shutter Speed: 1/45s Aperture: F1.4

In anticipation of the eventual (?) FF Pentax DSLR, I've sold of all my DA-lenses, and built myself a FA-kit instead. It suddenly dawned on me that I now have a weatherproof body, and no weatherproof lens! This made it easier to justify to push the button and order a 55mm DA* from B&H on Wednesday. The lens duly arrived this afternoon, and I got the chance to try it out when playing with my son's Thomas the Tank Engine-track.

Maybe I bored him to much, because in the end he found it more interesting to watch over the neighbors, rather than playing with me.

Ah, well: I am happy with my new lens, and even happier to still be using Pentax gear, after starting taking photos with a Spotmatic II, at the age of twelve, some 25 years ago.

Nice color! How are you living with the 55mm's AF? It is a little on the slow side compared to the FA 50, unfortunately

Thanks, Adam!

I agree, it is a little on the slow side, but I really don't mind all that much. Indoors I use it mainly for portraiture and low-light family stuff - all quite static subjects (except for the three-year-old!). When outdoors in poor weather and low-light (both of which we have in abundance in this country) I find it an excellent walkaround lens, though my FA31 is by far my favorite lens!

Bottom line: I live very well with it
