Today, I hit a milestone - 7000 miles on my bicycle, which will be three years old next month. Here are a couple of pics to celebrate the event.

I don't even know if I can count that high anymore. Jer, just curious how the bike has held up with that many miles ridden on it. Many repairs?

Thanks, Capn. I thought a cold one to mark the event was fair - even in the early afternoon.

Hey Bob - my bike as well as Connie's (which is about 200 miles behind me) have suffered no breakage, but I have had to replace the original brake pads on both bikes and my front tire wore out and delaminated about 500 miles ago. Also, I generally degrease (perfunctorally) and lube the bikes every month or so.

Congratulations Jer and a cold one is most certainly justified. Your bikes have held up real well but it's the old storie, you look after it it will look after you. The only bike that we have left is a folding one that we take camping, for the rest it's walking, at lest 5days a week.

Thanks much, Heinrich. Yeah, our bikes don't look a shiny as they did three years ago, but they take us where we want to go. I'd think a folding bike would be super for camping; a number of my fellow sailors have them for use when cruising.

Well done, Jer. That's a healthy number of miles.

Hey thanks, Richard. Incidentally, I've been seeing a great "visit Australia" ad on BBC America. I've always wanted to go there and New Zealand. If I get down your way, I'll give you a call - I think an American car guy would love Australia.
